Nurse Charged in Death of 84-Year-Old Resident at Warrensville Nursing Home

The heartbreaking story of Alvera Meuti, an 84-year-old woman, caught the public’s attention after she tragically lost her life on Christmas Eve at a nursing home in Warrensville Heights. A 31-year-old nurse named Amber Henderson from Willoughby Hills now faces serious charges, including involuntary manslaughter and neglect.
Details about what happened are both shocking and upsetting. Alvera lived at the Avenue at Warrensville Care and Rehabilitation Center. On December 23, a nurse checked on her around 8:40 p.m. and found her safely seated in her wheelchair. However, when Henderson checked on Alvera about an hour later, she could not find her. Even though staff noted her absence, it wasn’t until 6:30 a.m. that they realized Alvera was missing and called the police. Sadly, she was discovered outside on a patio, having died from hypothermia after being left exposed to the cold for several hours.
This unfortunate incident prompts serious questions about safety measures and staff training in long-term care facilities.
