Class-Action Suit on Behalf of Sebring Residents, Following Lead Exposure Findings

Elk & Elk is filing a class-action suit and individual suits on behalf of Sebring, Ohio residents who believe the water in their home was contaminated by lead and those who were exposed to lead in schools in Sebring.

Sebring homeowners and children may be victims of lead exposure and the medical side-effects as a result of the contamination of local water sources. Testing of children’s blood levels revealed some had experienced Level 5 exposure, which could leave them with permanent medical damage and astronomical medical expenses.

Symptoms of lead exposure include:

  • Skin rashes
  • Hair loss
  • Digestive problems
  • Infections
  • Pregnancy complications
  • Breathing problems
  • Liver & kidney complications
  • Cognitive (mental), emotional or psychological problems

Elk & Elk Co., Ltd. of Cleveland and Youngstown is encouraging residents who believe they were exposed to lead by contaminated water to seek legal advice and compensation for their health and treatment. Children who have no symptoms may still need medical monitoring.

“Elk & Elk is providing our legal services to anyone affected by this failure to protect the public by environmental officials,” Arthur Elk, managing partner of Elk & Elk Co., Ltd. said. “Our main concern is getting proper medical treatment for children and residents exposed to high levels of lead poisoning. Homeowners have a claim for pipes which have deteriorated as a result of the corrosive lead. We charge no legal fees unless we are successful for our clients.”

Elk & Elk Co., Ltd. is partnering with and working alongside firm Napoli Shkolnik, PPLC, a law firm who has worked specifically in environmental litigation.
