Mirena IUD problems? We can help.

mirena

The Ohio medical device lawyers of Elk & Elk are investigating cases involving the Mirena® Intrauterine Device.

Mirena is an IUD inserted directly into the uterus where it may remain in place for up to five years. Mirena was approved in 2000 as a contraceptive and its approval was expanded in 2009 to include the treatment of heavy menstrual bleeding for women who desire to use an IUD as contraception. The IUD is inserted into the uterus to disrupt the egg and sperm. Mirena also releases levonorgestrel, a progestin, which helps keep the woman’s ovaries from releasing eggs.

If you have suffered side effects or serious injury as a result of using Mirena, we are here to help you.

Injuries reported may include:

  • Abscesses
  • Device migration
  • Embedment in the uterine wall
  • Uterine perforations
  • Infertility
  • Infection
  • Intestinal perforations or obstruction
  • Pelvic Inflammatory Disease
  • Ectopic Pregnancy
