Get to Know Attorney Antonia Mysyk
Antonia “Toni” Mysysk joined Elk + Elk in 2025 after graduating summa cum laude from Case Western Reserve University School of Law, where she ranked at the very top of her class and was inducted into the Order of the Coif. At the firm, she handles key trial and appellate briefing in medical malpractice and personal injury matters, and has written and argued appeals before the Ninth and Eighth District Courts of Appeals. Her judicial externship with Judge J. Philip Calabrese of the United States District Court for the Northern District of Ohio gave her a firsthand understanding of how judges evaluate arguments, an insight she brings to every case she builds. A dedicated community advocate, Toni volunteers with a women’s emergency shelter in her hometown of Chardon, Ohio, reflecting the same commitment to others that defines her legal practice. We sat down with Toni to learn more about her path to Elk + Elk and what drives her passion for the law.

How long have you practiced at Elk + Elk?
I have practiced at Elk + Elk for one year.
What do you like best about working at Elk + Elk?
The people. Elk + Elk has an incredibly supportive and collaborative environment. I have the opportunity to work alongside attorneys who are not only outstanding mentors but have also become close friends. The firm truly feels like a professional family. As a young attorney early in my career, I feel very fortunate to be surrounded by such talented and genuinely caring colleagues.
What do you find most fulfilling about practicing law?
What I find most fulfilling about practicing law at Elk + Elk is the opportunity to tell our clients’ stories and help them pursue justice. Many of our clients come to us during incredibly difficult moments in their lives. Being able to advocate for them and give them a voice in the legal system is extremely meaningful. Practicing law allows me to use my skills to help people who might otherwise not have the resources or opportunity to pursue their claims.
Are there any legal issues or causes you are passionate about?
One issue I care deeply about is protecting the right to a jury trial. It is one of the most important and foundational rights in our justice system. I believe when individuals have been wrongfully harmed, they deserve the opportunity to have their case heard by a jury of their peers. One of the things I value about working at Elk + Elk is that it is a trial firm that fights to ensure cases have that opportunity.
What was your first job?
During high school, I worked at a horse barn, a golf course, and a local courthouse. But the most meaningful job I had before becoming an attorney was working as a waitress at Bob Evans during college. That job gave me the opportunity to connect with people from all walks of life.
What is your favorite restaurant in Ohio?
Suhei Restaurant in Beachwood. Their sushi is incredible. The spicy scallop hand roll is a must-order. My family has been going there for the past 30+ years.
Do you have any pets?
My family has a pit bull we adopted named Gnocci. She loves to cuddle. I didn’t realize pit bulls were such cuddlers until the day we brought her home.
How do you spend your free time?
I enjoy spending time outdoors. I like jogging, hiking, and playing softball and pickleball. I also volunteer with a women’s shelter in Chardon. It’s a wonderful organization, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to support the work they do in the community.
What is the most exciting or challenging thing you’ve ever done?
Personally, one of the most exciting experiences I’ve had is taking a road trip through Italy with a close friend after taking the bar exam. We traveled to different cities and stayed in monasteries and local accommodations along the way. I was very lucky that my friend spoke Italian.
Professionally, one of the most exciting challenges I’ve had was arguing before the Ohio Court of Appeals alongside Jay Kelley during my first year at Elk + Elk. It was an incredible opportunity to brief and present oral argument so early in my career, and even more rewarding to do it alongside a mentor.
Who is your favorite Ohio sports team?
The Cleveland Guardians.
Do you have a favorite quote or piece of advice that guides you?
“You only get one trip around this world.” That advice has helped guide my life decisions: a reminder that life and career choices matter because we only have one opportunity to live them. I try to approach each step of my career in a way that allows me to grow as both a professional and as a person so that, looking back, I can be proud of the path I choose.
Anything else you want to tell me?
“The Plus Is Us” really resonates with me because it reflects that Elk + Elk is truly about the people behind the name. I feel incredibly fortunate to work with such dedicated support staff, paralegals, and attorneys. I’ve seen firsthand this year how it’s the people who make Elk + Elk such an incredible firm to be a part of.
