galaCLEVELAND, OH, Aug. 19, 2014 — The law firm of Elk & Elk ® is pleased to be the presenting sponsor of the Spanish American Committee’s Black Tie Benefit Gala. It will be held Friday, September 26, 2014 at LaVilla Conference & Banquet Center, starting at 7:00pm. The event raises funds for the Spanish American Committee for a Better Community, the oldest and largest Hispanic human services organization in Ohio. They provide valuable social services and education to thousands of families each year.

During the annual gala, Embracing New Beginnings, the Spanish American Committee will honor Ronn Richard, President and CEO of The Cleveland Foundation. The event also includes a short program, dinner, and dancing with a DJ and Latin Grammy Award-winning singer, Elvis Crespo.

“Sponsoring the Spanish American Committee’s Black Tie Benefit Gala is a natural fit for Elk & Elk and its core values, especially related to providing services for underserved members of our community,” said Arthur Elk, managing partner of Elk & Elk Co., Ltd. “We believe in supporting efforts that allow communities to grow and prosper. For this reason, it is important that we recognize and support people like Ronn Richard, who selflessly give their time and effort to make this happen,” he added.

Christopher Martinez, Board President of the Spanish American Committee said, “We are very grateful to The Cleveland Foundation for all they have done to support the Latino community. They have given back to our Cleveland community this year and we thought it was fitting for us to honor them with our Latino Leadership Award.”

The Latino Leadership Award is given to an organization in the community that has promoted the Latino culture through their vision, leadership, and support.

In addition to sponsoring the gala, Elk & Elk provides free consultations on-site for clients of the Spanish American Committee to discuss their personal injury cases. “We are honored to have the opportunity to sponsor la Gala and celebrate with the Spanish American Committee,” said Elk. It is our sincere hope that our partnership will help fill the gap in the availability of plaintiff’s civil litigation services for individuals and families of Ohio’s Latino community.”

“The Spanish American Committee was created 50 years ago by a group of committed citizens to provide social services for and raise awareness of the Latino community-a voice for our culture,” said Ramonita Vargas, Executive Director of the Spanish American Committee. “Today, we continue that work with the support of community partners such as The Cleveland Foundation and Elk & Elk,”
