Pradaxa®: Stroke prevention drug may cause cerebral hemorrhaging & internal bleeding

Pradaxa® logo

More than 260 cases of fatal bleeding have been linked to the popular stroke prevention drug, Pradaxa®. If you or someone you love suffered internal bleeding or wrongful death as a result of taking Pradaxa®, you should contact the Ohio drug recall lawyers at Elk & Elk to protect your rights.

Pradaxa® is an anticoagulant (blood thinner) designed to reduce the risk of stroke in patients with non-valvular atrial fibrillation, the most common type of heart rhythm abnormality. The drug was approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration in October 2010. By November 2011, there had been more than 260 cases of bleeding deaths related to Pradaxa®.

"Serious bleeding events can and do occur, with all anticoagulants, including Pradaxa®,” the drug’s manufacturer, Boehringer Ingelheim, said in a statement.

If you take Pradaxa®, you may be at risk for serious internal bleeding, cerebral hemorrhaging or even death. Contact the Ohio Pradaxa® injury lawyers if you experience any of the signs or symptoms listed below - you may be entitled to compensation for your injuries:

Unlike many other blood thinning medications, Pradaxa® doesn’t require medical monitoring blood tests. However, for patients who experience serious or fatal hemorrhaging, there is no known remedy to stop the bleeding.

The FDA is working with the manufacturer to analyze clinical factors that may contribute to bleeding events, such as inappropriate dosing or use of interacting drugs. If you are currently taking Pradaxa®, consult your healthcare professional before stopping use of the drug.

The Ohio drug recall lawyers at Elk & Elk have nearly 50 years of experience handling drug injury cases. If you or a loved one suffered serious internal bleeding, cerebral hemorrhaging or death after taking Pradaxa®, let Elk & Elk handle your Pradaxa® lawsuit. Our injury lawyers, doctors, nurses, accident reconstructionists, accountants and other experts will work hard to help you and your loved ones get the justice you deserve.
