Elk & Elk’s Ohio injury lawyers investigating cases involving Sanofi-Aventis drug used in treatment of irregular heartbeat. Call a drug recall attorney if you’ve suffered liver damage.

The Ohio injury lawyers at Elk & Elk are looking into cases in which patients who were prescribed Multaq (dronedarone) for heartbeat irregularities developed liver problems after taking the medication. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in January 2011 issued a warning to doctors and patients about the possibility of developing liver toxicity resulting in severe liver damage from using Multaq. The FDA then added a new warning label to Multaq packaging about the liver damage risk for patients whose doctors believe its benefits outweigh its risks.
If you or someone you know has been prescribed Multaq and are experiencing symptoms of liver toxicity, you should speak with a drug recall attorney at Elk & Elk. We’re available 24 hours a day, seven days a week and 365 days a year. Just call for a free, no-obligation case consultation at 1-800-Elk-OHIO, and take a few minutes to complete our online case evaluation form. It will provide our staff with the information we need to accurately determine to what extent our Ohio injury lawyers may help you.
Multaq is an antiarrhythmic drug manufactured by Paris-based Sanofi-Aventis. It was approved in July 2009 to treat patients diagnosed with atrial flutter and atrial fibrillation – conditions in which the heart beats erratically – for six months or longer. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration issued a stern warning in January 2011 after adverse effects were linked to its continued use in a number of patients, including two women about 70 years old. One had been taking Multaq for six months, the other, about 4 ½, according to a story on MSNBC.
Liver toxicity shows up frequently across a wide spectrum of prescription and nonprescription drugs. Its symptoms include itching, yellow eyes or skin, dark urine, light-colored stool and appetite loss, according to the FDA. If you are experiencing any of these side effects and you have been taking Multaq, you should talk to a drug recall attorney at Elk & Elk. If we determine you have a case, you’ll have a lawyer with the resources necessary to dig deep into your case, consult actual doctors, clinicians, nurses and other experts to prove its merit.
