Heparin contamination affected half the U.S. supply, initiated the most serious of drug recalls.

If you or a loved one was affected by recalled Baxter heparin, talk to an Elk & Elk drug recall lawyer.

Heparin Drug

In February, 2008 Baxter, which manufactured about half of the country’s supply of heparin, issued a recall of all of its heparin products after adverse reactions were reported in nearly 400 cases in which Baxter heparin was used. Heparin is a widely-distributed blood-thinning agent used to prevent blood clots during surgeries, dialysis and other procedures. In all, 81 patients died in the United States as a result of the contamination, which has been blamed on “a deliberate scheme to adulterate a life-saving medication,” a Baxter statement reads.

Although the heparin contamination-related death toll reached fewer than 100, long-term complications from the other hundreds of cases in which tainted heparin was used may yet still surface. If you or someone you know required heparin therapy and experienced adverse, life-changing side effects, an Ohio personal injury lawyer at Elk & Elk can help you sort out the details and recover any compensation owed to you.

It seems like drug recalls are announced more and more these days. Some people blame the proliferation of approved, then later-recalled drugs on lax regulation or even corruption. Regardless, people are injured in hospitals all across the country by drugs that were allowed by federal regulators to reach the market. The only way to hold accountable any corrupt regulators and the corporations behind these dangerous, recalled drugs is to have a drug recall lawyer examine your case, evaluate your injuries and determine whether you’re owed compensation for your pain, suffering and diminished quality of life.

At Elk & Elk, we take drug recalls very seriously. If your situation leads to a case here at Elk & Elk, your drug recall lawyer will work closely with you.
