52 years-old woman suffered lacerated liver; multiple right rib fractures; right ankle fracture; lung contusions; abdominal compartment syndrome; and other injuries when she was involved in a multiple vehicle collision on an Ohio interstate. A semi-tractor trailer tipped over and was blocking one of the two highway lanes. A car struck the trailer and spun out into Plaintiff’s lane of travel, striking the car in which she was a passenger. A third car then hit Plaintiff’s car from behind. Approximately $200,000 was paid for Plaintiff’s medical treatment and she also incurred significant lost income.
$1.05 Million – Geauga County, Ohio
38 year-old man suffered multiple fractures of his left and right legs; fractured left arm; lacerations to his spleen and kidneys and numerous other injuries when his car was hit head-on by a speeding Mack truck. A pick-up truck that negligently pulled out in front of the Mack truck was also partially at fault for causing the crash. Client had over $240,000 in past medical expenses and also incurred significant past and future lost wages.
$650,000 - Miami County, Ohio
58 year-old truck driver was killed instantly when his truck was hit by another tractor-trailer. He was survived by his wife and his estate claimed $5,997 in funeral and burial expenses and $246,000 in lost income.

59 year-old female suffered multiple fractures of her arms and legs; degloving injury of left leg, and other injuries when another truck went left of center and hit her vehicle in head-on collision. She had over $229,000 in medical bills. Her 29 year-old female passenger suffered left knee fracture and incurred over $9,000 in medical bills in the same crash. Insurance company paid policy limits.

17 year-old man suffered a fractured skull; blowout orbital fracture; and a brain injury when car in which he was a passenger struck a utility pole. The driver was speeding and lost control of the vehicle. Client underwent four months of hospitalization and outpatient rehabilitation and incurred over $126,000 in past medical expenses.

28 year-old female suffered fractured foot, neck injury, and bruised ribs when another vehicle crossed over the median and hit her head on. Client underwent several surgeries and incurred significant medical bills and lost wages.

76 year-old man suffered closed head injury, punctured lung, lung contusion, and other injuries when another car ran a red light and struck him while he was clearing intersection by making left hand turn. Client was hospitalized for 14 days and incurred $100,000 in medical bills.

40 year-old waitress suffered herniated disk in her neck when her disabled vehicle was struck from behind by a pick-up truck. She needed two surgeries and incurred significant medical bills and lost wages.

40 year-old laborer suffered fractured hip and other serious injuries when another vehicle driven by an uninsured motorist pulled out in front of him. $875,000 – Court of Claims – Ohio - Jay Kelley and Craig McLaughlin
A baby from Lucas County suffered brain damage when the doctor negligently performed a C-section. The mother had scar tissue from a previous abdominal surgery, and the doctor negligently failed to remove scar tissue before cutting into the mother’s uterus to deliver the baby. The doctor also negligently failed to have a second experienced doctor present to assist her in this difficult delivery and negligently failed to call for the assistance of a more experienced doctor when it was clear the baby was in distress. Case on the issue of liability only was tried and won in the Ohio Court of Claims and then the case was later settled by mediation.
$400,000 - Nursing Home Negligence – Wrongful Death - Ohio
82 year-old female was totally dependent on nursing home staff for all of her needs, but she was left unattended on a portable toilet. She fell and hit her head, causing bilateral subdural hematomas. She died two days later. Deceased was survived by her husband, two children, and a granddaughter.

Optometrist failed to diagnose open angle glaucoma that resulted in permanent partial vision loss in both of client’s eyes. Client incurred over $11,000 in medical bills, could not drive at night, and needed a magnifying glass to read.

Client was a known fall risk, but fall preventions were not implemented. Client fell and suffered a brain injury that led to her death.
Confidential Amount Nursing Home – Pressure Ulcer – Amputation of Leg - Ohio
Client developed a pressure ulcer on her right heel. Proper wound care was not provided and ulcer got worse over time. Leg had to be amputated above the right knee because of infection.

Client was a known fall risk, but fall preventions were not undertaken. Client fell and fractured her hip and needed surgery.

Client developed stomach problems, but nursing home staff failed to monitor client’s condition and failed to seek medical intervention. Once it was obvious client was in distress, nursing home further failed to get client to hospital in timely manner. Delay in care and treatment resulted in client’s death.

Client was at hospital for cataract surgery. Pharmacy cart was stocked with wrong medications. Anesthesiologist injected client’s eye with wrong medication that caused horrible reaction.

6 year-old girl suffered fractured skull when a neighbor gave his young son a metal golf club and a golf ball to play with in the backyard and then left children unsupervised while he went upstairs to take a shower. His son swung and golf club and seriously injured our client. She needed surgery to repair the damage and was left with significant permanent scarring. Case settled for policy limits.
$241,000 - Negligent Horseplay By Teenager – Medina County, Ohio
Teenage female suffered an avulsion of the patellar tendon in her left knee, permanent scarring of her left knee; and a right knee sprain when a fellow high school classmate stepped on her feet and knocked her to the ground during horseplay at school. Client had a pre-existing knee condition that was severely aggravated by the Defendant. She needed four surgeries on her left knee after the incident. Client incurred over $86,000 in medical expenses and $3,000 in lost income.
$200,000 - Construction Site Accident – Franklin County, Ohio
Independent contractor working for a masonry company suffered a crushed thumb when he was asked to help place a very heavy stone back into a wall without the assistance of a crane and stone was dropped on his thumb by other workers. Client underwent two surgeries, incurred $19,000 in medical expenses and could no longer work as a mason.
